Ages of Children Accepted
We aim to serve infants starting at six weeks old, and toddlers, until they leave for Pre-K at three or
three and a half years old (depending on when in the school year cycle your child turns three). Due
to Universal Pre-K legislation, there is a slot for all DC children who are three years old and up in DC
Public and Public Charter Schools. Therefore, to maximize the availability of infant and toddler slots,
this program is for children three years old and under (though we understand they may need to
make the transition to school a few months after their third birthday). We will work to best help
children and families transition to Pre-K.
Our Guiding Principles
All children have the right to feel good about themselves and it is our responsibility to nurture the
child’s self-esteem. The home is the most important factor in a child’s development. We will always
strive to support the family to promote the healthy development of children and parents. It is
important to meet each child’s need for physical, social, and emotional growth, by providing
experiences in a supportive environment. Children deserve to have caregivers who are capable and
caring. Our educational and guidance decisions must be based on our knowledge of child
development.

BACKGROUND AND PHILOSOPHY
We believe in the value of human diversity and fair treatment of all children. Our number one goal
is to provide the kind of environment and influence that encourages children to become creative,
independent, responsible, and well-rounded. The beliefs that all children learn the most within their
first 5 years of life, pushes us to thrive for the best out of each and every child. Our desire is for
excellence in meeting the needs of children in their growth, developing relationships, and
understanding.
The mission of LTH Infant and Toddler Care is to provide a quality learning experience for children in
a living and caring environment. We will strive to help them develop socially, creatively,
emotionally, physically, and intellectually.
